Forehead lift is performed to correct the deep horizontal lines on the forehead and vertical wrinkles above the root of the nose. Forehead lift is frequently done together with other procedures such as facelift, browlift, or eyelid surgery.
The operation is performed through an incision running over the top of the head. In some cases, the surgery can also be done endoscopically through five small incisions in the scalp. The surgeon separates the skin from the underlying structures and stretches the skin upwards. Parts of muscles that cause the deep wrinkles may be severed. Excess skin is eliminated and incisions are carefully closed. The surgery is done under general anesthesia and takes less than one hour.
After surgery you will be wrapped into a light headdressing for seven days. Drains may be inserted to collect any fluids that may appear. They will be removed the following day. Mild swelling in a week after surgery is not unusual. After two weeks, you can resume your normal physical activity.
The result is a younger, relaxed look. This procedure is seldom done alone; mostly it is performed in conjunction with other rejuvenating procedures on the face.
